Haitian Gang Leader Calls for Dialogue with Government

Last weekend, the leader of the G9 gang union, Jimi cherizier, said he seeks dialogue and consensus among Kenyan forces, Haitian forces and criminal gangs operating in Haiti.

This time, Cherizier abandoned his usual uniform and weapons in favor of a striking red suit.
Barbecue, as the gang leader is known, installed a microphone and an improvised podium where he defamed Prime Minister Garry Conille, accusing him of not wanting to open dialogue between the “family” of gangs and the government.
“Let’s focus on the solution; the real solution is a national dialogue where every Haitian without discrimination has the right to speak,” he said.
“We want dialogue because we don’t want war. We want dialogue because we want peace”.
All this happens as Kenyan troops patrol the streets using armored suits and automatic weapons, these are the representation of the UN’s contigent to try to quell the rise of violence in Haiti.
“We are here to bring peace, of course, not to fight,” said the military commanders deployed in the Haitian capital.
